Our Woodbourne Garden’s Contribution to Combating Air Pollution

ByKate Slater April 14, 2016

Our Woodbourne Garden combats Air Pollution.

In Channel 4’s Dispatches – ‘Dirty Secrets: What’s Really in Our Air’, a reporter highlighted that the amount of nitrogen dioxide – a key part of airpollution – was four times the EU limit at Birmingham New Street station, which is used by 170,000 people a day.

Following my heart attack in 2008, I was alarmed by Professor John Grigg’s, research, stating that: “The levels of air pollution we’re exposed to is a public health disaster” and that toxins in the atmosphere may be triggering heart attacks in adults.

In 2013, Martin decided to follow his interest in Bee keeping and we  now have 8 hives in the gardens at our office.  We all know the recently publicised importance of conserving our Great British Bees!!  Air pollution causes bees stress and may cause them to leave their healthy hives.  So, as you can imagine, here at Tyndallwoods we are keen to contribute to keeping our micro environment as healthy as possible, not only for our bees but for our clients and colleagues.

Below you will see some pictures taken in our wonderful Garden, on this crisp sunning morning.

We also opened Ken’s Orchard in 2014 in memory of my late father.  The orchard contains Apple trees, Pear and Plum trees all magnets for our bee guests.
